Peter offers to clients the benefit of some 40 years in the
construction industry employed for the most part by contractors.
Of this time, 12 years were spent on overseas contracts in
Africa, South America, and the Middle and Far East.
This experience has given him considerable insight into project

A brief resume of his career is given below:
March 2007 to present:
Independent consultant advising on construction methods and
budgets, contractual issues, dispute management, avoidance and
resolution.
Feb 2001 - Feb 2007: Faithful & Gould (Atkins Group)
Consultant advising and assisting clients in project management,
claims evaluation, dispute resolution and contractual matters.
Commissions include expert witness, mediation, conciliation,
adjudication and arbitration assignments as well as presenting
lectures on commercial and contractual topics. Practicing
arbitrator and adjudicator.
May 1999 - January 2001: Consultant - self employed
Construction consultant, expert witness, expert adviser and
adjudicator.
1997 - May 1999: Smit Land & Marine Engineering Ltd. Commercial
Director
Negotiation of contracts and subcontracts in UK, Malaysia and
Europe. Resolution of contract disputes internationally.
Insurance claim negotiations in UK and overseas. Development of
commercial and safety training.
1989-97: Costain / Smit Land & Marine Engineering Ltd.
Operations Director
Management of pipeline construction (onshore and offshore),
vessels, marine survey, and directional drilling activities
together with their supporting departments (engineering and
mechanical plant). Appointed to the boards of many joint venture
companies and consortia.
1986-89: Costain International/ West Africa Resident Contract
Manager
Senior site representative for the £150 million Oyo Water Supply
Scheme, Nigeria. Dam, water treatment works, 63 reservoirs,
pumping stations, 900 km of water pipelines.
1981-85: Costain (Africa) Ltd. Zimbabwe Contracts Manager
Developing civil engineering business in Zimbabwe. Preparation
of tenders, construction of dams, roads, industrial
developments, water reticulation and treatment schemes and
building projects.
1977-81: Tarmac Construction. Site Agent
Construction of bridges, water treatment works, industrial and
office buildings, chemical works, roads and marine works.
1975-77: Tarmac Ltd. Majes Irrigation Project, Peru. Tunnels
